Today we celebrate the Summer Solstice in Northern Hemisphere. In this snapshot my best friend Bonnie's Aunt Janette Trainer (1904-1980) shows how to keep cool on a hot summer day.

That photo was taken at the Kenyon Courts, a bungalow court which is now in a dangerous part of L.A. It was probably around 1945. My aunt Laura (not blood relation) and uncle John (my mother and Janette's brother) lived there in the 1940s.
