Our goal is to make available to genealogists, useful, readable, high quality maps. Here you will find both archival maps and newly made maps based on scholarly research. This project and all of its strictly volunteer staff are dedicated to free, online access for the general public.Here the researcher can find U.S. and state and county maps (which comprise the bulk of their collection). Here's a 1900 map of California roads for cyclers:
However what I find of particular interest is their collection of maps of Indian land cessions "during the interval between the formal establishment of the United States and 1894." Here's a map of California:

They also provide links to the texts to the 375 Native American Treaties recognized by the Department of State.
