2 of my 3 Genetic Communities (as determined by AncestryDNA) are part of the Midwestern United States (as defined by the Census Bureau)!  I've looked at various state censuses over the years, but it is always nice to get a refresher on what they can offer for research.

I definitely have a lot of Deep South and New England ancestry, but the most recent one appears to be Midwest.  My direct ancestors lived in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota (barely), Missouri (barely), and Ohio, but I also have a million cousins and collaterals who have lived there as well as Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The lecture includes many specific examples from these enumerations, provides an overview of state censuses for Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, and indicates where they may be found. Does your state have a 1945 state census? The personal details vary but may include names of children, maiden names, military service, religious denomination, mother of how many children, occupation, value of real estate, and other helpful details.
