Free Legacy Family Tree Webinar: "Research Wiki, Research Courses, and FamilySearch Forums"

My mental energy has been at a low point the past week and a half due to a lingering cold.  This seems a good time to curl up and indulge binge-watching my video subscriptions, Ancestry Academy and Legacy Family Tree Webinars (which I finally subscribed to today).

Since I use the FamilySearch wiki almost daily, I'm starting off with a free Legacy Family Tree Webinar, Research Wiki, Research Courses, and FamilySearch Forums, from back in 2011 with Michael Ritchey.

Free Ancestry Academy Video: "Expand and Support Your Genealogy Research with DNA Circles"

My dad only has one.

When the New Ancestor Discoveries part of Ancestry's DNA page first came out I got really excited.  Maybe these would contain clues that would help dismantle some of my brick walls!

I went through each one and didn't find any "aha" moments at all.  I looked at the names and places but no immediate leads.

They have a step-by-step approach (.pdf) on how to analyze the discoveries, but my eyes glaze over every time I have tried to use it.  Hopefully the video will help me.



I really wish that Ancestry would provide a chromosome browser!

Video: Learn About Your Ancestors Using the Latest from Ancestry (free!)

I've signed up for the Ancestry Academy (an additional subscription to Ancestry.com) and have really been enjoying the courses (especially Judy Russell's "Records of Death: Using Probates in Family History").

A few of their videos are free, which are great promotions for their products and services.  The newest one, "Learn About Your Ancestors Using the Latest From Ancestry" featuring Anne Gillespie Mitchell, is about using the new version of Ancestry, soon to be the only version.  I have mixed feeling about the new release, but I do think the new version has been helpful in furthering the utility of timelines.  I think the video is worth a look.
