Monday Is for Mothers: Rufina Ellen Tomlinson (1863 - 1943)

NIcknamed Fina, this maternal great-grandmother was the daughter of Elizabeth Taylor (1844-1863) and George Marion Tomlinson (1839-1922). She was born in Washington County, Iowa, on January 3, 1863, and died in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 13, 1943, at the age of 80. From all accounts she had a very strong personality.

Fina married Lewis Logan Slater on December 13, 1885, in Severy, Kansas. The couple had four children and my grandfather, Harry Allen Slater, was the second oldest.

We're fortunate to have quite a few pictures of her.

Fina certainly deserves a more complete profile than this but I've had a very long day so I'm postponing it for a bit longer. Stay tuned.
