i4GG Conference Registration is Open

I'm going to the i4GG conference again:
2018 i4GG registration Now Open!
Just since our last conference the popularity and public interest in Genetic Genealogy has seen a formidable explosion. Data bases have mushroomed as Genetic Genealogy has gone from exclusive or elite, to mainstream. This begs the question; what will the next 12 months hold for Genetic Genealogy? How are the testing companies preparing for continued explosive growth? How can we stay on top of the latest advancements in this field, including the most comprehensive and most effective  techniques for the successful application of DNA testing to genealogy available now? This and so much more will be the theme of i4GG 2018.

Hosted by CeCe Moore’s DNA Detectives the i4GG 2.5 day Genetic Genealogy conference will kick off with a “company” day Friday December 7 when the major DNA testing companies will own the stage. This is followed by two full days December 8 and 9, 2018 in San Diego CA. As is i4GG tradition, the conference will cover the most cutting edge Genetic Genealogy methodologies for any genealogy application, including unknown parentage.

The talks at i4GG will be professionally video recorded and be provided free of charge to those who purchase tickets for both (2.5) days. For those who opt for one day only, the recordings will be available for purchase at $99 for all videos, or $10 for purchase of individual video recordings.

Newbie or Pro, makes no difference, at i4GG there is something for everyone. i4GG has been called “the most important DNA conference in America” and we will strive to live up to this esteemed repute.

One of my goals this year is to learn more about DNA, obviously.  But another goal is to be as comfortable as possible (I find all-day meetings like this physically excruciating, despite my interest in the subject).

San Diego i4gg Conference Coming Up--Don't Forget to Register!

43 days until the Institute for Genetic Genealogy (i4gg) at the Sheraton Hotel in Mission Valley on December 9 and December 10!

I'll be there both days.

Speakers will include CeCe Moore and Blaine Bettinger (huge names in this field) and more to be announced soon, and if last year is any indication then there will be some amazing workshops demonstrating the latest genetic genealogy methodologies.  You can purchase last years video workshops, and see the lineup of speakers last year here.

Another big name is Kitty Cooper--she is also excited about the upcoming event.

Fantastic Find: Linda Stufflebean's "12 Tips: Preparing for the Family History Library and Rootstech 2018 - Part 1"

133 days and counting from now.  Image from RootsTech twitter feed.

Linda Stufflebean has just posted "12 Tips: Preparing for the Family History Library and Rootstech 2018 - Part 1" at her Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.  She has some fantastic practical advice.

I was just thinking about how I would plan and prepare for such a trip to a big conference like RootsTech.  It might still be a few years until I get my kidney transplant (and have more energy) but I might as well start preparing for it now.  The only time I went to the Salt Lake City Family History Library I was woefully unprepared for serious research.

I look forward to her Part II.

As for RootsTech, watch past sessions here. Randy Seaver at Genea-Musings has an enormous amount of the 2017 RootsTech-related blog posts here.

Don't Forget to Sign Up for the San Diego 2017 International Genetic Genealogy Conference (Dec 9-10, 2017)

The Institute for Genetic Genealogy (i4gg) and the DNA Detectives are bringing experts in the latest methodologies to San Diego, December 9 and 10, 2017.  I went last year and learned a lot.  A bonus for getting the two days was access to videos of the lectures given last year, very helpful for repeated viewing.

I already signed up early last month.  Since it is just down the road from me I won't have to book a room, but if you are from out of town you can get a room at the Sheraton Mission Valley.

Promotional info, pricing, and other information is available here.  I'm looking forward to it!
