New To Me: LucidChart

A tutorial on using LucidChart in general.  "LucidChart Full Tutorial 2014" by Technology by Teachers and Students

I've wondered how people have been doing customized descendancy charts, and during a presentation at i4GG this weekend I learned that LucidChart is a great program to use.

Sunday Drive: USS California

Last Friday was the 76th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the USS California was one of the ships sunk by enemy bombs on that terrible day in 1941. But that wasn't the end of the California, she was raised, repaired and rebuilt and returned to service. You can read about her history here.

I'm not sure when this shot of the California was taken here in San Diego, but from its place in the photo album I think it was probably in the early 1920s.

By coincidence, I've done some research in the past on her first captain, Henry J. Ziegemeier, because he was the father of a good friend of mine's mother-in-law. Small world!

First Day of i4GG 2017

Shot of the i4GG (Institute for Genetic Genealogy) from where I sat before the keynote speech by CeCe Moore.

Time got away from me tonight, but I will post a summary of some of the great stuff I learned at the conference today.  While I have spent most of my time on correcting locations on my own tree this year, it looks like a lot of new tools have come up.

Also, I didn't realize that AncestryDNA sold 1.5 DNA kits this Black Friday/Cyber Monday.  WOW.  A few years ago that was the size of the whole AncestyDNA database.

The Answer to a Recent Comment, with Photo

Beloved Commenter Bonnie had a question about the vehicle in last Sunday's post titled The Old Dodge Made into a Truck:

Are you sure it was not made that way? I've seen other photos from this period and I believe you could order this from the factory, or perhaps a secondary shop who did the conversion.

I'm sure it wasn't in this case because of the caption to this picture (another double exposure) on the same page of the photo album.
