Hashtags in Legacy 9: George Hartley, Jr. (1907-1977)

The list of hashtags I've attached to my grandfather George Hartley, Jr.

I've taken over a year break from regular posting after a tough recovery from a heart attack and ongoing dialysis, but I haven't been idle!  I've been working on standardizing locations and attaching hashtags to the people on my (admittedly ridiculously huge extended) family tree on Legacy 9.

My next overarching project is going to be figuring out ways to display reports on these folks (using said locations and hashtags) that is informative and readable.

Maybe I'm Missing Something? Legacy 9 and Hashtags

One of my many 3rd cousin twice removed, Elsie Mae Harnden (my Tibbetts side).  This is the only way I can figure to show all the hashtags pertaining to one person.  Print Screen, then edit in Paint 3D.  This seems awfully time consuming.  It doesn't even let you copy/paste, since the hashtags only appear when the mouse hovers over the # symbol.

I was hoping the Chronology view might provide some way to display the hashtags, but to no avail.

If you choose just one tag/hashtag, you can print out a list of people sharing that tag (in this case a list of people on my tree so far who, like Elsie, were golfers).  But I want to do the opposite--print out one person with all their hashtags.  Surely I shouldn't have to do "prt sc sysq" (print screen) every time?

Creating a List of DNA Matches by Hashtag (in Legacy 9)

I've already identified 34 of my father's DNA matches from 23andMe and AncestryDNA (I haven't started on the FTDNA or GEDMatch yet).  Generated from my tree on Legacy 9.

As I've been hashtagging my way through my tree I just realized that I had already entered 34 of my father's DNA matches (haven't gotten to Mom's side yet).  This is just the tip of the iceberg, since I've identified so many more than that, but I can't keep all of them in my head.

I am not quite sure how I'm going to use this info just yet. Hopefully I can use it with Genome Mate Pro, if and when I learn to use that lol

A snapshot of my father's DNA matches so far.  Everyone's name had to be erased because they are all living.

A sample of the DNA hashtagged report.  You can adjust some of the report variables, but I'm not sure how I'm going to use this yet.

Legacy Quick Tip: "Creating a custom report, hashtags, DNA and more"

I've mentioned before that I am cleaning up my database, and have posted numerous times about said cleaning.

Well, the cleaning continues apace. For inspirations and to see what is waiting for me at end of the tunnel is another quick tip video by Geoff Rasmussen, "Creating a custom report, hashtags, DNA and more."  It is free to non-subscribers of the webinars.

Originally aired August 2, 2017. Runs about 21 minutes.

For the past few weeks my genealogy focus has been on my 4th great grandfather Mahlon Hibbs and his possible origins using the FAN principle.  Once I started to convince myself that maybe Hibbs might actually be Hobbs (in other words, probably starting to lose my mind) I realized my brain needed a break and I needed to come up for some air.  The rest of my focus this week will be on the bigger picture.

Tom Kemp conducted this webinar, "Bringing it All Together and Leaving a Permanent Record," on November 13, 2015:

Perhaps you’ve been researching for 5 years – 15 years – or even 50 years. Your skills improve with each year. Learn how to review and prepare your data – so that you can leave it – permanently – on multiple sites.  Make sure your data is available for your family into the rising generation.
I think I'm doing some of this already by blogging and having a tree on Ancestry, but I'm sure I can do more/better.
