The little photographer and her subject are my second cousin, once removed, Elda Mae Heins (1915-1998)* and my birth mother Alta Mae Slater (1917-1986). The other photo was clearly shot at the same time, although I somehow doubt Elda took it.

*We share descent from Mercy Ann Darling Webb Walsh--from her first husband Abner Webb for me and through her second marriage to Joshua Walsh for Elda.

Why do you doubt Elda's photographic abilities? She is clearly very serious about it.
