Book Shelf: The Great Migration Directory: Immigrants to New England, 1620–1640

I'm just going to quote directly from the latest NEHGS Weekly Genealogist which arrived in by email this morning:

New Great Migration Title Now Available

NEHGS is pleased to announce the publication of Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration Directory: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1640. One of the most important genealogical and historical sources ever published for New England, this book is a complete survey of all individuals known to have come to New England during the Great Migration period, 1620-1640, covering individuals not included in previous Great Migration compendia (which covered the period 1620-35). Each brief entry provides critical data, including identification of the head of each household, English or European origin (if known), date of migration, principal residences in New England, and the best available sources of information for the subject.

Preorders were shipped 6/30/15.*

*This means that my copy is on its way! Most of my New England ancestors arrived during this period but not all of them were thoughtful enough to land before 1635 so the additional information covering the later years is most welcome.

  1. My ancestors will surely be in this book also. I have found them in other books, especially Barnstable Families and the former Great Migration book. I will be interested to see if any of the info gets on line.
