Monday Is for Mothers: Field Trip Coming Up!

Two-and-a-half weeks from now my daughter and I (and my grandson) will be on our way to Arizona for a second visit to my Aunt Olive who is the keeper of Slater family photos and records.

On our first trip four years ago* when we arrived at her house we were expecting that she had a photo album or two, which was very exciting to us. But it turned out that she has a lot more than that--boxes, in fact.

We concentrated on the oldest photos in her collection beginning with this album that belonged to my great grandmother Elnora Worden Webb.

Among the treasures Aunt Olive has preserved include photos of my great great great grandparents Porter Worden and his wife Hannah Leonard; my great great grandfather George M. Tomlinson, his first wife Elizabeth Taylor and lots of pictures of their daughter, my great grandmother Rufina Ellen Tomlinson Slater and her husband Lewis Logan Slater; and many, many more.

What remains still to be scanned are more recent photos including more of my mother's 1948 wedding.

I can't wait to see what's waiting for us there!

  1. How amazing! What is the oldest dated photo, do you think? My family may all be older people, but I don't think I have any photos beyond the generation of my great grandmother. Can't want to see it all.
